    460164 - Adult Water Polo

    18 years and up
    60- minutes class
    Prerequisite: Participant must be a competent swimmer. Must be able to swim 500 yards continuously in under 9 minutes and tread water continuously for 20 minutes. Class will consist of learning basic rules and play. Structure of class will be warm-up and drills followed by game play.

    560100 - LGT Waterfront

    560100 - LGT Waterfront

    This class will meet at the following days/times:
    April 16-18 4-9pm, April 19 10-3pm, April 20 9-5pm
    This American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding course prepares you to work at pools, lakes, ponds, and beaches. Successful completion of the course earns you the following certifications: Waterfront Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid all valid for 2 years. The minimum age for this course is 15.
    Pre-test requirements:
    1.Swim 550 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. *Students who cannot complete 550 yards, but can swim 300 yards can receive the regular Lifeguard Training instead of Waterfront Lifeguarding.
    2. Swim 5 yards, submerge, and retrieve three dive rings placed 5 yards apart in 4-7ft of water.
    3.Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs with hands positioned under the armpits.
    4.Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive and retrieve a 10 pound brick in 7-10 feet of water and return to starting point holding the brick with both hands while keeping your face above the water and exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Swim goggles are not allowed.
    Fees include all materials for the course and Red Cross fees.
    There is an online component to this course which must be completed PRIOR to the first class. Students who do not complete the online component will not be allowed to continue in the course.
    Cancellation:
    The registration period ends 3 days prior to the first class. Attendance is required at all class sessions. No exceptions will be made! There is a $25 non-refundable fee if you withdraw before the end of the registration period.

    560101 - LGT Waterfront Review

    The purpose of the review course is to give individuals with a current Lifeguarding/FirstAid/ CPR/AED certificate the opportunity to recertify. Proof of certification is required. Must submit photocopy of current certifications when registering for this course.
    Pre-test requirements:
    1. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
    Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
    2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs with hands positioned under the armpits.
    3.     560102 - Water Safety Instructor

    The purpose of this course is to train instructor candidates to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Candidates must be 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled session (proof of age is required).
    Pre-test requirements:
    Students must swim 25 yards of each of the following strokes: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Elementary Backstroke, Breaststroke and Sidestroke. Swim 15 yards Butterfly. Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling) and tread water for 1 minute. All of these skills must be performed at a Red Cross Level 4 or higher.
    Fees include all materials for the course, Red Cross fees, and must be paid in full at registration.
    Cancellation:
    The registration period ends 7 days prior to the first class. Attendance is required at all class sessions. No exceptions will be made! There is a $25 non-refundable fee if you withdraw before the end of the registration period. All materials provided by the Beede Center must be returned.

    561301 - Kids Night Out

    Drop off your kids at the Beede Center for a fully-supervised night of swimming, pizza, popcorn, movies and more. Particpants will enjoy The Rock, Diving Boards, Beach Ball Water Polo and Relay Races in the pools. After swimming we have pizza and popcorn in the new Fitness Studio while watching a movie. The top lobby will feature board games as an alternative to the movie.

    If your child has an allergy or medical condition, please let us know. If your child requires medication a form must be filled out and the medication must be provided by the family. Children must be signed in and out.

    Open to Grades 4-8. Free to Members. Non-Member fee $15.00

    Join the Beede Center Aquatic staff for a FREE Water Safety Event! Get ready for the summer swim season by learning key points to be safe in, on, and around the water!
    Schedule includes a fun land American Red Cross presentation for the kiddos complete with stickers and tattoos, Q&A about all things water with Program Manager Amanda Smith, level assessments in the water to find out your correct Red Cross Swim Level, and advanced Beede swim lesson registration onsite.
    Assessments and registration for White Pond lessons are also available!
    Being around a body of water all summer and not knowing how to swim can be scary for kids and parents. We'll give you the confidence and knowledge to become "water smart!"

    Come and learn about deep water exercises that will increase your postural awareness and abdominal strength. Find out how you can gain core stability with water exercises. Learn alternatives to your land-based exercise program. If you are a lap swimmer, you can do these for a few minutes while you are in the water. If you are a water exercise class participant you might benefit from some specific instruction that you can use in your classes. Please note that this is an introductory class only and is not meant to be a substitute for physical therapy. No handouts will be given to participants. Pictures and video of these and other exercises can be found in the book and DVD Get in the Water! 194 Aquatic Exercises for Fitness and Rehabilitation.
